Meeting of the Cabinet UMC Eurasia
Meeting of the Cabinet UMC Eurasia
Eduard Khegay
Bishop’s assistant
November 5, 2008
11 superintendents of the districts met with the Bishop at the meeting of the Cabinet UMC Eurasia from October 27 to 29 in Moscow. Members of the Cabinet had greeted new superintendents Vyacheslav Kim and Alexandr Kozorezov. During three days leaders of our church meditated on God’s Word in realities of today’s time, broke the bread and prayed for churches and pastors.
As always members of the Cabinet discussed questions of personal. Shared their joys and difficulties of ministry at local places. Special attention was given to the discussion of couching program that was started this year. There are many positive responses and many ministers realized usefulness and timeliness of this program. But this program is developing effectively not everywhere. We need to work a lot in order to see fruits of this instrument for perfecting our ministers.
The theme of our representation at the Central Conference 2009 took a lot of time. Superintendents tried to find balance between financing, possible reduction of our delegates from Annual Conferences (AC) from 4 to 2 people, and just representation of all five AC regardless of geographical location. AC Counsels will have to make decision on this question in the nearest time.
Also at the Cabinet was spoken about importance of publishing the journal of spiritual meditations for every day “Upper room”. We hope that each parishioner of our church will be able to read this magazine regularly and to grow spiritually with the millions of brothers and sisters all around the world.
The Cabinet defined dates of holding annual conferences. They will be held from the end of May till the end of June 2009. You can learn exact schedule if you receive electronic calendar of UMC Eurasia from your superintendents. Next meeting of the Cabinet of UMC Eurasia will be held in February 2009.
In the conclusion I would like to emphasize that superintendents inspired each other by God’s Word. When we grow in our faith and do not give up, put Christ on the3 first place in our hearts, think renewed in the light of the Bible, the Lord renews us and our churches.
Finishing Up Furlough
